Or we could learn from them how to design the kind of synthetic circuits that truly exploit the computational power of biochemistry. And in my work, I focus on the concept of biology as computation. And that means asking what do cells compute, and how can we uncover these biological programs?
And I started to ask these questions together with some brilliant collaborators at Microsoft Research and the University of Cambridge, where together we wanted to understand the biological program running inside a unique type of cell: an embryonic stem cell.
They can become anything they want: a brain cell, a heart cell, a bone cell, a lung cell, any adult cell type. If we could figure out how these cells make the decision to become one cell type or another, we might be able to harness them to generate cells that we Crashforce - Re-Energize (Vinyl) to repair diseased or damaged tissue.
But realizing that vision is not without its challenges, not least because these particular cells, they emerge just six days after conception. They have set off down the different paths that form all the structures and organs of your adult body. About 13 years ago, some scientists showed something truly revolutionary. So we wanted to understand the biological program running inside an embryonic stem cell, and understanding the computation performed by a living system starts with asking a devastatingly simple question: What is it that system actually has to do?
When you write a program, you code a piece of software, you want that software to run correctly. You want performance, functionality. You want to prevent bugs. They can cost you a lot. So when a developer writes a program, they could write down a set of specifications. These are what your program should do.
Maybe it should compare the size of two numbers or order numbers by increasing size. Technology exists that allows us automatically to check whether our specifications are satisfied, whether that program does what it should do. Email them if you are interested in helping out. How Many Americans Are Homeless? No One Knows. But more cities are carefully tracking these population — and making progress in addressing the problem. This is an important information resource for those who want to understand the situation and find solutions for homelessness in Sonoma County.
The project began on December 10th. He needs your support to continue. Watch the video for details of the project. Please donate. Homeless Mortality Data Toolkit Published The experience of homelessness has well-documented long-term consequences on health and well-being. However, due to a lack of national review or standardized data collection for homeless mortality, it is difficult to calculate the extent that homelessness is killing people. Inthe National Health Care for the Homeless Council initiated the Homeless Mortality Data Workgroup to unite expertise on homeless mortality reviews across the county.
The workgroup includes researchers, advocates, public health department officials, health center leaders, clinicians, government officials, and communities involved in homeless mortality reviews.
The group is charged with sharing best practices on how localities carry out homeless mortality work, discussing how to best organize mortality data reports, and planning advocacy work that can be carried out with, and on behalf of, homeless mortality data. They provide examples for others in similar situations. They are building tiny home communities to keep people sheltered and physically separated when they have nowhere else to go.
Then she spoke with William X Nietzsche whose family was victimized by predatory lending practices about what they are doing to keep their home. Many people in the community have rallied around them, building an eviction defense camp around their house. Santa Rosa and local homeless advocates stand on opposite sides of that question, and a federal judge gave them an answer last Friday. His guidance, essentially: Sometimes, but not always. Once this courtyard was a bustling common area filled with women and playful children.
But since COVID, the courtyard has remained mostly empty, as have the outbuildings where classes were held, laundry was washed, showers were luxuriated in, and naps were taken in large comfy barcaloungers—sometimes the only safe, solid rest these women would get.
In recent years, in the absence of preventive measures, most government contact has been some form of police enforcement. Over the past month, that reality has inflamed tensions between activists and Petaluma officials after evictions were carried out at Steamer Landing Park, and at least four homeless individuals filed claims against the city.
All told, an estimated 60 to 80 individuals were removed from a private property owned by the Union Pacific Railroad, a private company, local press and homeless advocates reported. After delays due to the COVID pandemic it was originally scheduled to open in Julythe project will provide shelter to 26 homeless youth. Register to symposium HERE. This year policy blueprint will illustrate how, with the right solutions and the will, we can create a California with homes for all.
And while about half of survey respondents agreed with using the money on homeless services, that option attracted the highest percentage of negative feedback in the form of people who indicated strong disagreement. The variety of priorities among the Santa Rosa community was reflected in suggestions such as affordable housing projects, mental health services and addressing racism. Some expressed support for spending the settlement money to create sanctuaries for people experiencing homelessness, while others suggested buying homeless people a bus ticket out of town.
This will be a chance to share your thoughts on the overall operation of the program. After a deal for Hennepin County to purchase the building unexpectedly fell through, residents say they are standing up for their rights as tenants. On that space, it builds a tiny home, which is rented out at below market rate. Six found permanent housing. At least one relapsed into alcohol addiction.
But more than 50 came home Monday as forecast of rain is on the horizon. His goal is to reduce disparities, enhance quality of life in all types of neighborhoods, and help our nation grow stronger economically, offsetting the costs of the COVID pandemic, and investing in our future.
While the Board of Supervisors is set to authorize the acquisition of both hotels Tuesday, the Sebastopol Inn deal will remain on hold indefinitely until the county obtains state funding to complete the purchase.

Adapted from a Broadway play, Twentieth Century is at once a postcard from the past, a world of luxury train travel and screwball comedy, and is also a timeless valentine to screwballs and eccentrics of every stripe.
There are plenty of them in this movie. John Barrymore plays a delightful egomaniac theater impresario, who discovers in a shy and clumsy Carole Lombard his latest project of self glorification, to turn her into a star. This he does, with much coaching, bullying, and jabbing her in the bottom with the pin from her corsage to make her scream to his satisfaction at the appropriate moment in the script.
From the flies of the theater, the catwalk above the stage, he watches her on opening night perform to thunderous applause.
In her dressing room afterwards, he declares on his knee, his adulation for her as an artist. She returns his humble tribute by showing him how, with gratitude, she has enshrined the pin with which he assaulted her, on a heart-shaped cushion. Every scene, nearly every line from then on is a parody of the effusive natures in the world of theatre. After a few years of hits, Miss Lombard, now Mr. After a few years of failure without her, Mr. Barrymore catches the same train she is taking to return to New York to woo her, or trick her, whichever works, into signing a new contract with him.

The train left each city in early afternoon, took about 20 hours to reach either New York or Chicago the following morning.
But she had a plan and she was carrying it out. She was sitting in a college classroom, albeit a developmental mathematics college classroom, which no one in her family had done before. She was there. She was thinking. The intensity with which Eileen thinks and plans is evi- dent by the sheer number of repetitions she uses to tell this short story.
In a short space, you find: I had to support my kid… I had to work… I had to… I had to go to college… I had to take …[Algebra] And you also find: I wanted to… I was afraid… This fragile young woman was under pressure. She had to succeed. But she was terrified.
What does appear immedi- ately is how those words impacted Eileen. But Eileen had to return. Indeed, Eileen was embarrassed and she felt humiliated.
She had to. Eileen may have appeared confident. She tried to appear confident. That was part of her menial job at the bank. She tried hard to dress well, carry herself well, in order to appear confident—not arrogant—confident. Now she was shaken.
It was the fear again. She was realizing it. She was afraid. What an incredible loss that would have been for all of us! In spite of her developmental mathematics teacher, she had to. Indeed, the messages conveyed by individual teachers and by an edu- cational institution as a whole possess the potential for fostering both good and ill, hope and despair, freedom and oppression.
Despite her con- siderable academic success and scholarly achievements, Eileen described her first humiliating experience with a developmental mathematics in- structor through her tears. But Eileen was determined, in spite of the pain and fear, to get an education.
She said I could come in, and … and, um, she was sweet. She was supportive and I did finish early, and— was able to start on the next semester, and then ended up getting out of that semester about half-way through.
So, it freed up time so I could take a heavier load. I tried to do a good job for Sally Normandy because she was good to me and very encouraging.
So, she was especially supportive. And, um, and I met a couple of people— who were even older than me who struggled a lot, and I ended up helping them. It made me feel good. You know, twenty-five eighteen-year-olds. The potential to create social awareness and to fos- ter activism in a large number of college students, especially mothers who in turn would have a profound influence on their own children—and po- tentially on their communities were they to become mathematics teach- ers—should provoke many in adult education to begin focusing much of their research and practice on this special population.
Wright 71 Conclusions The enthusiasm for their respective developmental mathematics course by both Cathi and Eileen was instrumental to their eventual transition from developmental student to educator. In those courses both Cathi and Ei- leen had positive experiences with mathematics that were meaningful, challenging, and encouraging. Because both did, in fact, have a dormant aptitude with mathematics, the success they experienced within the developmental class increased their sense of self-confidence and self-worth.
Especially with adults, im- proved attitudes and self-efficacy with respect to mathematics has the po- tential to open additional lines of communication and opportunities for learning. In particular, with an improved attitude and enhanced self-image, an adult is much more likely to engage in informal and self-directed learn- ing projects as both Cathi and Eileen did with the pink-haired girl and the red-headed woman, respectively.
Goleman notes that some attitudes may well be attributed to inborn or natural temperaments. Even so, temperaments may be tem- pered and attitudes cultivated by positive experiences. Effective mathematics teachers know full well that suc- cess breeds success.
And for Cathi and Eileen, their success ultimately extended to a burning desire to excel at teaching others. Bakhtin suggested that certain literature permits the polyphonic interplay of many different voices rather than allowing a single monologic voice to dominate. Our own psy- chic voices do the same thing as we grow in experience, education, and critical thinking ability. Naming that enduring demon is the first step, Brookfield asserts, in: the process whereby adults come to realize how childhood inhibitions serve to frustrate them from realizing their full development as per- sons.
This realization is the first step to slaying these inhibiting de- mons, laying them to rest and living in a more integrated authentic manner.
Reach- ing their full potential depends not only on escaping the fearful phantom of failure but gaining a confidence that the haunting itself has come to an end. And it is into that polyphonic interplay of experiences that that narrative researcher hopes to find the insight, the inspiration, and the initiative for instigating authentic educational reform. Can we move towards this transformative space? Mathis May was seven, she got sold away. T he aforementioned quotes will appear numerous times throughout this paper because slavery is where womynism and Show Way Woodson, begin. Although situated either directly or indirectly in slavery, the story of Show Way sparks an accord with me because the mother-daughter relationship is central to the story.
Further- more, as a student of curriculum studies and critical perspectives, includ- ing womynism, I see myself in Show Way. This essay is part of my exploration of womynism as an act of curriculum.
So, I structured this essay to weave the text Jacqueline Woodson created to be her freedom-seeking-Show way; my thoughts, deliberations and eruditions with womynism; and my autobiography into the complicated conversation of pain, hope, and courage.
Unlike my white colleagues, who can point to some country on the continent, Europe, where they like to take credit for colonizing others, or like Barack Obama who can point to a continent, Europe, a country that colonized and to an- other continent, Africa, to a colonized country, Kenya, on that continent, to a village in that colonized country on that continent, I cannot claim any place.
I claim the land that provided slaves. Black girls and womyn need courage to be. This courage can be em- bracing their selves and the Black community. Womyn possess the cour- age to go from day to day with the expectation of hope and justice that will arise. This courage can be the within-ness of religion.
Through many of the slave narratives, one consistent theme was the relationship that slaves had with their God. There was a strong belief in God that gave womyn the courage and faith to believe that all things would work out in time. Womack, Taylor, and Broadway 79 Harriet Tubman not only escaped from slavery, but she repeatedly made dangerous trips into the south to assist her family and community members to freedom through the Underground Railroad.
One of the most challenging assists from slavery was that her parents and usually older individuals were not taken on the Underground Railroad because it was a physically difficult challenge. Alice Walker, quoted in Douglas,p. This same faith has been instilled in me, and I contribute much of my faith and beliefs to the womyn in my life.
I remember my maternal grandmother reminding me at the age of 12 that my actions were now accountable, and one day I would have to an- swer to God for the things I said and did. I can recall my paternal grand- mother teaching me about the biblical responsibility of tithing an offering to the Lord.
She took ten grocery items and put them on the table. She said one of the items should be given to the Lord and the others I could keep for myself. These lessons were powerful. I am forever grateful to both of these womyn for religious lessons that I learned and embraced as a Black womyn. In Show Way, Woodson uses her personal ancestry and story to edu- cate, to encourage, and to remind mea self-identified Black womyn, and the Black Diaspora in the United States, of the past and the present im- pact of the past on our sociologically influenced community.
Womynists, as described by Beauboeuf- Lafontantbelieve that individual empowerment, combined with collective action, is inevitable for a lasting social transformation. There- fore, womynism is that connection of who I am—audacity, resilience, love, endurance, strength, and desire for change for the correction of the wrongs that society has placed as a burden on womyn of my kinship. Not just any woman, but a Black womyn, which is a different experience from motherhood, sisterhood, and community.
Thus, I un- cover concepts and themes about the impact of the past on my commu- nity, in Show Way, through womynism. Also, Show Way is womynist be- cause it presents Black womyn wherever they are—in homes, classrooms, the academy, churches, community events, in our dancing minds, and in other places where Black womyn reflect on what we see, feel, and do Townes, Womack, Taylor, and Broadway 81 Womynism posits that the processes of social change and community survival are the creative role of womyn.
If it were not for the womyn, ra- cially oppressed communities would not have the institutions, organiza- tions, strategies, and ethics that enable the group to survive, maintain, and be challenged Gilkes, Raised most the slave children on that large patch of land. At night, Big Mama told the children stories p. Big Mama assembled the slave children, some not of her blood, into a community around storytelling.
The slave storytelling, or narratives, were shared between slaves at night when they were not working in the fields picking cotton or in the homes of their white slave masters, scrub- bing floors and getting raped. In other words, around story-telling away from absolute [hegemonic] controlthe slaves created a community. Came to her [Mathis May] when they needed to talk; came to her for the stories of brave people Woodson,p.
Williams reaffirms Black mothers have passed on wisdom for sur- vival for as long as anyone can remember. And at night, she sewed stars and moons First Be A Woman - Lenore OMalley - First Be A Woman (Vinyl) roads — tiny patch pieces of stars and moons and roads.
Slaves whispered what no one was allowed to say: That Mathis know how to make … …a Show Way Woodson,pp. However, Cannon reminds me that under the power of the Master, the Black womyn and her children were not permitted to create the most natural of social relationships—family and kinship—solely because Black womyn were property.
Pressed it to her face when she wanted to remember back home. Held it to her heart to feel back home Woodson,p. Had herself a baby girl and named that child Mathis May.
Loved that baby up so. Yes, she loved that baby up Woodson,pp. My father was there taking us to church, bathing his children, ensuring that we write our grandparents immediately after receiving a let- ter from them, talking to us, and assisting in our academic process.
He would co-sign for those of us who were old enough to work and purchase items on credit. He taught us gardening, carpentry, and craft skills that we each utilize as adults. He tells others that I am his baby, and if I should ever need him for any task, he is there. But Mathis May stayed on, grew tall and straight-boned, jumped broom with another slave That slave was killed running off to the north side of the war months before he got to meet his baby, a girl-child who was born free that same year, Woodson,pp.
My maternal grandfather is still alive and has served as the cornerstone to the survival of our family. He owned his own service station in the early s that provided car repairs and gas to the Black community. You can find him on any given day working outside on cars at the age of 81 and applying his skills to the most elaborate engines that have been created to this day. Some mornings, Soonie looked out over the fields of cotton and dreamed of a place to call her own.
Had herself a baby girl, name that girl- child Georgiana. Yes, they loved that baby up Woodson,p. I was loved up by my birth father, my step-father, by my grandfather.
I was loved up to be a womyn. Black womyn have not been able to be individualistic; they were the caregivers of their children and others with little thought of self Cannon, I prepared the minds of those in my community as well as my own daughters. I taught, guided, directed, assisted, and mentored young people. This required many hours of reading and meditating on the Bible as well as teaching and instructing the Bible.
This required assisting youth with obtaining good oratorical skills by taking them out of town to Bible oratorical competitions and reading scripture in church services.
This required exposing them to social functions that would enhance their education. They must see that prepara- tion leads to improvement and access to opportunities that will require them to step up to the plate and perform—perform for their future as well as the future of their community. Thus, what Woodson provided for the Black womyn through Show Way is an appreciation and love of self from one generation to the next.
Womack, Taylor, and Broadway 85 These womyn were able to see themselves through the womyn that came before them and the gifts and skills they have flowing through their bloodline from their ancestors. I, as a Black womyn, am to serve; how- ever, I, as a Black womyn, have faced difficulties with adapting.
Black womyn repressed these impediments because womyn are responsible for transmitting the culture, customs, and values of the Black community to their her children Cannon, Called that land Home. Stayed on with other people—none of them slaves anymore, Hard working making a life—from pink day to Blue—black night—but it was a free life just the same.
Big Mama, the older female slave who provided the care to the slaves too young to work, often told the ones too young to work, Loved that baby up so, Yes, she loved that baby up Woodson,p. The great profitability of cotton in the southern states is an example. Southern plantation owners were immensely rewarded for their cotton production.
And two needles she got from the big house— and thread dyed bright red with berries from the chokecherry tree Woodson,p. A slave owner had the best that life could offer at that time: cheap labor from the slaves, with great possibilities of producing more slaves.
In addi- tion, he claimed the bodies of many Black womyn. They were treated as property for labor, sex, and production of more slaves. The slave owners always had the option of selling, killing, or keeping the babies the Black womyn produced, including those sired by the slave owner himself. The Black womyn were nothing less than property.
Black womyn did not possess, nurture, and mother their children or their bodies. The rape of and separation from their children were painfully oppres- sive Terrell, As we see in the illustrations and from the quotes and pages above, all a mother and father could do was watch their her daughter sold to yet another slave-owner.
This sale or exchange was always a profitable gain for a white slave-owner. The slave had no control whatsoever over her body or the destination of a child she bore. The social, political, and economic barriers that assert oppression with their mere existence need to be dismantled for the survival of Black people and their liberation Terrell, Surmounting the social, political and economic barriers of the white power structure that dominated the life of Soonie and her ancestors assisted Soonie and her mother in their survival after the liberation from the legal enslavement.
Sewed stars and moons and roads; sewed fields and rivers and trees. Patched the pieces together for her mama to sell come market day. Called those quilts Trail to the North. Called the quilts Show Ways. Woodson,p. Ann grew up writing poems, And sometimes she made the poems into songs. Caroline stitched those songs into art That people bought to hang up on their walls Woodson,p. And two needles she got from the big house — and thread dyed bright red with berries from the chokecherry tree Woodson,p.
Got herself a piece of muslin And some thread somewhere And kept up her sewing p. Sewed those quilts to live. Sewed those quilts to remember p.
When Mathis May was seven, she got sold away Woodson,p. The picture I want to paint is that Black womyn find courage to con- front who we are, where we are, and the when of our being in the dancing mind. For Toni Morrisonthe dancing mind focused on the dangers, the necessities, and the pleasures of the reading and writing life in the late 20th century. For her, the dangers are captured in two anecdotes.
It is in these books and essays and lectures and papers that those of us who are not womynists most often meet those of us who are for the first, if not the only, time. Thus, it is in the dancing mind that womynists meet each other more often than not. Womack, Taylor, and Broadway 89 This dancing First Be A Woman - Lenore OMalley - First Be A Woman (Vinyl) is more than my attempt to make sense of the worlds surrounding us—sometimes enveloping us, sometimes smoth- ering us, sometimes holding us, sometimes birthing us.
It is more than my desire to reconfigure the world and then invite others to come and inspect the textures, the colors, the patterns, the shapes, the sizes of this new order, this new set of promises.
Townes,p. Each mother yearned for freedom from slavery for herself and mem- bers of their families. And two needles she got from the big house— and threaded dyed bright red with berries from the chokeberry tree.
And Caroline and Ann grew up tall and straight-boned. They were a little bit scared sometimes, but pinned inside their dresses were Show Way patches Grandma Soonie had given them. I embrace my heritage. I do not know the stories of my ancestors, but I do know the stories passed down to me by the strong Black womyn of my family. Therefore, Show Way and my First Be A Woman - Lenore OMalley - First Be A Woman (Vinyl) stories of courage—are a breath of life, hope, and liberation.
I am appreciative that I was not one of those mothers watching my daughters sold off to slavery, knowing I would never see them again. As a mother of daughters, I am constantly reminded of the plight and the dan- gers that the seven-year-old girls encountered.
I feel the separation of those who loved them dearly. Heartbreak was ever present for the moth- ers as well as the children. I commend each of these girls for bravely walk- ing away from their parents not knowing what the future would bring. My youngest daughter, Nia, also has an African language name, and it means Purpose. I intentionally wanted them to have meaning on this earth before they were even born. Now, again, I accept the responsibility of raising beautiful daughters that will someday tell my story, their story, and our stories to their children, to their community, and to all people.
Womynists are brave and serve as a catalyst for change for those in their families and communities. Womynism gives my daughters, my com- munity, and me a future and a hope. I am so grateful for those womynists who have gone before me with bravery, just as this story illustrates. I am empowered because of their successes.
I am even more committed with my womynist determination to do all within my power for a better future not just for my own daughters, but also for all mankind. I embrace my ancestors and their bravery and survival throughout history. As strong Black womyn who have a sense of community, are economically stable, and maintain self-love in a world that will constantly remind them that they are Black, my daughters, my community, and I are empowered as well as committed to continue the struggle for our society.
I hear a voice calling me The voice calls through the wind The voice calls through the drums The voice calls through the womyn I can hear you I can see you. Womack, Taylor, and Broadway 91 I see you through the pain and anguish of the night I see you take those steps to continue life You take the abuse You take the pain You take the suffering But you go on. You go on because you know You know that you must survive So your children must survive You carry such a burden on your shoulders You carry the future of your people.

This small, but ever-present, piece of punctuation typically falls into the background noise of the scholarly consciousness, whose disposition is for real words. But, if Lacan is correct, attention should always center on the remainder—the piece that refuses to be easily brought to consciousness, as these remainders have the tendency to animate the very scenes behind which they hide.
The colon : seems all-but ubiquitous within academic titles across the disciplines, and this collection is no exception. About 2 years after I walked off my high school campus as a dropout, my best friend also a dropout and I, on a day spent inside listening to records and avoiding the Arizona sun, heard this song for the first time.
In that talk, I discovered that, even 2 years later, there was still a hole in- side me, a deep-seated, sense of absence affixed to the label dropout Ap- ple, Yet, this song, these short five minutes and their lingering effects, felt like respite, not from the lack itself, but from feeling as though we were the only ones hollowed out by our experience in school.
And, perhaps it should. There is no shortage of voices proclaiming the paucity of educational opportunities and imagination within the current landscape of the discipline. And, it is still far too early to see if the changes brought by the U. Presidential Election will do anything to address these cri- tiques and concerns. Kincheloe asks us to consider the structural elitism inherent in the American educational system. Using Ronnie and Brandon, two carpenters he befriended while they worked on his house, as examples, Kincheloe illustrates how curriculum workers might take seriously the Gramscian concept of intellectualism, incorporating those forms of knowing and being that are not included in the culturally privileged knowledgescape of aca- demia.
Ronnie and Brandon are nothing like me or the people I grew up with; however, we share similar feelings of alienation and inadequacy around our experiences of schooling. This is not to say that these experi- ences were the same in kind or intensity, though—my very codes of privilege are embedded in my body white, malemy language middle classand my public practices heterosexual.
Their essay con- cludes with a call to action for educators and teacher educators committed to democracy, one that holds questioning, reflection, and a critical en- gagement with curriculum as crucial factors. I mean our worldview is supplied by the very same people who depend on a worldview for a living Just like the average American diet insures the average American will die of it History is written by the conqueror in a way the conquered will buy it The question of where and how education happens is an undergirding ele- ment of the curriculum project enacted by Nora Bergman, Jorge Lucero, Stephanie Springgay, and Walter Gershon.
In their multi-media, polyvocal essay, the authors describe a collaborative effort in which the process of revitalization is enacted as reinvention: school becomes art. In articulating this transition, they write. Several scholars within education e.
Work in this genre of educational research suggests that education is not only living, but also fecund in spaces and discourses that exist extra- institutionally and that are not commonly read as educational. Further, public pedagogical sites have become frequent targets of subtle corporate coop- tion. Where do we look for an education to revitalize, and where do we look to put the tired, harmful pedagogies to rest? Are we, as curriculum research- ers and scholars simply performing necromantic acts towards palliative ends, or is there a substantial something else—both inside and outside of schools—that gives us pause, curiosity, even hope?
When I began my doctoral studies in curriculum, I again felt the sense of respite that Rain Like the Sound of Trains offered years ago. However, this time, the relief came in knowing that this lack was still there, that it was an intimate, du- rable part of my self-concept, one that had likely guided me to this work and my burgeoning critical disposition towards education and culture.
Perhaps the experience of lack itself accounts for why many scholars and teachers in this field elect to question, resist, and reject the commonsensical and easy approaches to complex educa- tional phenomenon. And importantly, perhaps the lyricist for Rain Like the Sound of Trains and I were actually very well educated by the hidden curricula we experienced in school.
As we seek to revitalize educational practices towards more democratic ends, we might reconsider just how important more content—critical or not—is to developing a more conscious citizenry. If You Were In My Place (What Would You Do) - Duke Ellington - The Complete Duke Ellington Vol.10 -, Only Love Remains - Paul McCartney - Only Love Remains (Vinyl), Akvariumsvit Del 3 - Fantail - William Lind Och Konsertorkestern* - Akvariumsvit (Shellac), Zibble, Zibble (Get The Money) - Various - Hot 105 FM Miami - Radio Station Mix (Vinyl, LP), Mad The Swine, Baltimore Bounce - Erskine Hawkins And His Orchestra - Volume 2 (1928-1940) (Vinyl, LP), Bunker Escape - Quis Contra Nos - Ad Gloriam Duco (CDr), Nordic Odissey - Arem - Home (File, Album), Breakdown, Now Dance (Dub) - Kool D With Technolo-G - Now Dance / Go To Work (Vinyl), What Do You Want The Girl To Do? - Allen Toussaint - Southern Nights (Vinyl, LP, Album), Got A Job - The Miracles - Greatest Hits From The Beginning (Vinyl, LP), Too Much Too Young - The Specials - Specials (Vinyl, LP, Album), Gerard Joling - No More Boleros (Vinyl), Doing The World A Favor - Propaganda Machine - Electronic Terror (Cassette, Album)
Though Bennett probably did not make his statement with prophetic implications in mind, coming together to hear the shofar is not only the symbol of the Jewish New Year.
The shofar also is an essential element of the final redemption of Israel, as stated explicitly by Isaiah as signaling the pre-Messiah ingathering of the exiles:. Isaiah This is one of the bases for blowing the shofar on Rosh Hashanah as it symbolizes the coronation of God as king. Biblical kings were coronated to the sound of shofar blasts and the final shofar of redemption will be the ultimate coronation of God as King when He will be one and His name will be one.

Fortunately, while some fans might have been disappointed to not see Pennington on their screens, the former host wasn't too upset about not getting the gig. Speaking with the Atlanta Journal ConstitutionPennington said, "To be honest, my ego wasn't bruised.

For the next collection of singles and b-sides we're looking at the years toand once again there are enough non-album tracks to put together a superb album. There were a few of the LP) that I wasn't that familiar with, which was even better for me as it made it sound like an actual album rather than just a collection of random recordings. Nearly all of the songs made it this time, as there were only a couple that didn't really fit with the reflective mood of the album, hence the title.
Cliff Richard - Brand New Songs After posting my first Cliff Richard b-sides compilation, Man From Mordor commented that Cliff often put high quality songs on the b-sides of singles throughout the 60's and 70', and after a bit on investigation I discovered that between and he'd LP) nearly ONE HUNDRED songs that were not taken from his many albums.
I was astounded that many of these were hit singles, and not just obscure b-sides, and while the quality might have dropped on a few of them, most would have been LP) acceptable additions to his albums of the period.
So, working backwards from the first post, I'm picking the best of these tracks to pull together the songs that I think would have made a nice album at the time. Not every song is going to make it, as some were a bit too bubblegum-pop for my liking, and some didn't really sound right on an album, but there are plenty of other songs to choose from, so I'm going for quality over quantity.
This post is a perfect example of the quality of the songs that he released in the early 70's, with all the tracks coming from a three year period from to Cliff Richard - Imagine Love Over a career spanning 60 years, Cliff Richard has had more than of his singles, albums and EPs reach the UK Top 20, which is more than any other Nine Times Out Of Ten - Cliff Richard - Cliffs Hit Album (Vinyl.

Wet the indentation with a small amount of water and place a moist towel over it. Then run the iron over the area in a circular motion. Getty Images. If your paint has a sheen, you can use WD to easily wipe off markings from crayons or marker. However, if you try to use this trick on matte or flat paints, the oil in the WD can stain the walls, making matters worse. In that case, you should try a Magic Eraser. Apply toilet bowl cleaner to the grout and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Then scrub with a small cleaning brush or toothbrush. Finally, mop the area with warm water and prepare to be amazed. The problem? Cramping or restless legs disrupting your sleep.
The fix? Placing a bar of soap under your fitted sheet. Experts guess that the reason this works may be due to the placebo effect — or possibly due to the presence of magnesium in soap. If you live in a cold climate, you know the pain of wearing winter gloves while trying to use a touchscreen.
You could shell out for those touchscreen-friendly gloves, or you could simply use aluminum foil. Simply wrap a bit of foil around all the fingers you need to use on your phone screen and voila!
It seems too good to be true, but you can use a dishwasher tablet to clean the baked-on grease from your oven door. Make sure to wear gloves the tablets contain bleach and to wet — but not soak — the tablet before using it to scrub away the grime. Ironically, the same chemicals — tannins — that cause tea to stain cups over time can also be used to clean dishes. If you have a sink full of greasy dishes, BobVila. The astringent properties in tea tannins can help cut grease.
If you have just one greasy pot to clean, adding hot water and just a couple tea bags should do the Love In The Dark - The Twins - 12" Classics - The Original Maxi Hits (CD). A slow-draining sink, bathtub or shower is frustrating.
Who wants that? Let it sit for 10 minutes, then flush again with hot water from the tap. Save your back while you put dish soap and a broom to work cleaning your bathtub.
The same soap that cuts grease on your dishes will tackle soap scum and mildew in the bathroom. If you run out of dryer sheets or prefer not to use them on your clothes, simply ball up a few pieces of aluminum foil instead.
Or, depending on the brand, you may notice small black diamonds at intervals on the tape. These markers are put there to help you find the studs and the space between the studs in the walls of your home.
Based on the way most homes are built, the studs are a Love In The Dark - The Twins - 12" Classics - The Original Maxi Hits (CD) distance apart 16 inches. The numbers in red should match up to where the studs in your wall sit. The black diamonds on the measuring tape are set Another nifty use of aluminum foil is clearing rust off of a chrome surface. Merry Maids cleaning service recommends cleaning the surface first with a microfiber towel and soapy water, then dipping your aluminum foil into clean water before rubbing it on the rust.
By placing an inexpensive cabinet door bumper on the doorjamb, you can prevent a door from rattling or slamming. The same goes for drawers that slam closed. You also should be sure to rinse any food-related items well after cleaning with a Magic Eraser. If you have yet to try this hack, you must. Stained or discolored walls are no match for a Magic Eraser. Score another point for this magical tool! The only problem is that some of that lotion is sure to wash off in your pool. One easy fix is to toss a handful of freshly cleaned tennis balls into the pool.
The felt on the ball will pick up the greasy residue that sunscreen can leave behind. Let the balls float Love In The Dark - The Twins - 12" Classics - The Original Maxi Hits (CD) awhile before scooping them out.

Meaning: It seemed to the ancient Egyptians that the young scarab beetles emerged spontaneously from the burrow were they were born. Therefore they were worshipped as "Khepera", which means "he was came forth. The ray-like antenna on the beetle's head and its practice of dung-rolling caused the beetle to also carry solar symbolism. Differences between the Disney movie version and other versions include the explanation of who Hercules' parents were, and why he had to perform the 12 Labors.
Zeus, Hercules' father, was the most powerful of the gods. That meant Zeus could do anything he pleased, but it also meant that sometimes Zeus was not a very good husband to his wife, Hera, the queen of the gods. When Alcmene's husband, Amphitryon, was away, Zeus made her pregnant.
This made Hera so angry that she tried to prevent the baby from being born. When Alcmene gave birth to the baby anyway, she named him Herakles. The Romans pronounced the name "Hercules," and so do we today. The name Herakles means "glorious gift of Hera" in Greek, and that got Hera angrier still. Then she tried to kill the baby by sending snakes into his crib. But little Hercules was one strong baby, and he Miths the snakes, one in each hand, before they could bite him.
Louvre GAttic red figure stamnos, c. The baby Hercules wrestles with the snakes Hera has sent to his crib. How could she get even? Hera knew that she would lose in a fight, and that she wasn't powerful enough to prevent Zeus from having his way. Hera decided to pay Zeus back for his infidelity by making the rest of Hercules' life as miserable as she could. Eurystheus Miths the 12 Labors When Hercules grew up and had become a great warrior, he married Megara. They had two children.
Hercules and Megara were very happy, but life didn't turn out for them the way it does in the movie. Hera sent a fit of madness to Hercules that put him into so great a rage, he murdered Megara and the children. When Hercules regained his senses and saw the horrible thing that he had done, he asked the god Apollo to rid him of this pollution.Eileen Ivers - Traditional Irish Music (CD, Album), Forged In Birmingham - C Average - C Average (CD, Album), Nachtviolen - Elisabeth Schwarzkopf - The Very Best Of Elisabeth Schwartzkopf (CD), Tokyo Police Club - Champ (CD, Album), Ill Try Something New - The Miracles - Greatest Hits From The Beginning (Vinyl, LP), Down Under - Woody Herman - Who Dat Up Dere? - Volume 1 (CD, Album), Dr. Dragon* - Fuji Express (Vinyl), Love Machine - Paul dB+ - Friedrichshain (Vinyl), Promenade, Everybody Wanna Know - Original Sample - DJ Pharoah Presents Gang Starr - Fondation Vol.3 (CD), Transatlantic (Original Mix) - Andrew StetS - Transatlantic / 23 (File, MP3), Still Got Love For You - Beanie Sigel - The Reason (Cassette, Album), Regreza Maria - Various - Hit Explosion 3 (Vinyl, LP), Før Det Er For Sent - Erik Grip & Jens Christensen - 200 Gram Blandet (Vinyl, LP, Album), Army Of Lovers - Lee Ryan - Lee Ryan (CD, Album)

I sing in a large a cappella group called SoundCrowd and we sing a variety of music but mostly modern a cappella.
The songs we sing are focused mainly on vocal harmonization and rhythm to imitate traditional instruments with regular melodies and harmonies sung over top. Vocal percussion is used in about half the songs we Танцуй (Acapella) (Without Backing Vocals), usually to help keep time or to make a song feel more like a pop song if we are singing a pop songbut the focus is always on the music rather than the vocal percussion the odd vocal percussion solo excepted.
